Department of medical and biological chemistry
By the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 172 dated March 5, 2018, the Termez branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy was established, and when the branch was established, a total of 3 departments operated. The disciplines of medical chemistry and biological chemistry currently taught at the department were under the jurisdiction of the 1st Department of Medical and Biological Sciences at that time. In the 2021-2022 academic year, these disciplines were part of the Department of Medical and Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine. Starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, the disciplines of medical chemistry and biological chemistry have been operating as part of the Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry of the Faculty of Pediatrics.
The Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry is located on the 1st floor of the 1st academic building. According to the curriculum, the department conducts lectures, practical and laboratory classes in medical chemistry at the 1st stage, and biological chemistry at the 2nd stage for the educational directions of medical work, pediatrics and folk medicine.
From the 2021-2022 academic year, the department has been conducting classes in chemistry and analytical research methods for students of the joint educational program “medical work” and “pediatrics work”, opened in collaboration with the Privolzhsk Scientific Research Medical University of the Russian Federation. From
the 2022-2023 academic year, the department has been conducting lectures and practical classes in medical chemistry for foreign students studying from the Republic of India.
Currently, a total of 25 professors and teachers work in the department, of which 7 are full-time and 18 are on a part-time basis. Also, 4 foreign (Tajikistan and Kazakhstan) professors and teachers work at the department.
The scientific potential of the department is 57%.
