Dual education is an effective system that allows students to simultaneously acquire theoretical knowledge in a higher educational institution, undergo internships in their field, and strengthen practical professional skills.
This system has been consistently implemented at the Termez branch of Tashkent State Medical University and plays an important role in the formation of bachelor’s, clinical residency, and master’s students as mature specialists.
On December 6 of this year, 5th-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics participated in practical training in the departments of Infant Resuscitation, Gynecology, and Screening Center of the Surkhandarya branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Maternal and Child Health as part of the dual education program in Neonatology.
Clinical residents and 5th-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics actively participated in such activities as medical examination of infants, assessment of their morpho-functional maturity, diagnosis of the degree of prematurity, and conducting preventive interviews with young mothers.
During the practical lesson in the neonatal intensive care unit, students directly observed practices and learned practical procedures such as monitoring premature infants in an incubator, oxygen therapy, tube feeding, and using a pulse oximetry device, and got acquainted with the essence of such procedures as the correct use of medical equipment.
Most importantly, they independently practiced these practical skills step by step under the guidance of their professors.
Students of obstetrics learned the skills of collecting an obstetric history from a woman of reproductive age and conducting an examination. They participated in the UTT examination process, which involved clinical examinations of not only women, but also future fathers.
