Dual education – a combination of theory and practice

Dual education is an effective educational system that serves to strengthen professional skills and qualifications, along with the acquisition of theoretical knowledge in a higher educational institution, by students who directly practice in their specialty.

The dual education system has been consistently implemented at the Termez branch of Tashkent State Medical University and is playing an important role in the formation of undergraduate, clinical residency and master’s students as mature, competitive specialists.

The main goals of dual education are:

to strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge;

to form practical skills in the direction (specialty) of study;

to develop students’ professional interest and readiness for independent work.

From December 18 to 20, 2025, clinical residents directly participated in surgical operations conducted in the urology and surgery departments of the regional children’s multidisciplinary medical center as part of the dual education program in urology and pediatric surgery.

They also actively participated in the processes of:

conducting electrocardiography (ECG) examinations,

performing practical skills in abdominal palpation in the hematology department at the regional multidisciplinary medical center.

These practical exercises enriched the professional experience of clinical residents and served as an important stage in combining theoretical knowledge with real clinical situations.
